Last night we were reading in Alma 12 when we got to the part about how this life is a time to prepare to meet God, then Ariel said, "Like when you buy a coffin you are preparing to die."
Then I say,"Yeah," surprised that she was actually listening and trying to figure out the jump in logic, "And what did the verse say we are supposed to do to prepare to meet God?"
Ariel, "Olivia says that it is always good to be prepared." (you know, Olivia, the pig)
"Yes, she does," I am happily surprised at the insight and chuckle a little. In her own 7- year-old world she was totally making connections with the text. Emily, what is that called?
Check out this documentary that we saw at Stake Conference yesterday about family scripture study. The idea was that it is the consistency not the quality that yields long term effects. It is called "Fit for the Kingdom"

Yay!!! She made two connections. The death one, since she obviously hasn't personally experience that one, would be considered text-to-world (which is the hardest connectio) and the one to Olivia is text-to-text! If she made a connection to being prepared for something in her own life it would be text-to-self. Yay Ariel!
