So can trying to cook dinner while the baby is crying, the big kids aren't sitting down to do their homework, and the little kids are having a melt down because they refused to take naps. It gets even more frustrating when nobody eats the dinner. Maybe I should go back to making boring food, but it is hard to get inspired to do it then. I am going to institute mandatory naps from 2 to 3, because honestly, I need one in order to face the evening maddening minutia.

Mandatory Naps! Right on! I remember mom used to make us take naps. It was especially hard the year before kidnergarten. We would play strawberry shortcake dolls quietly in our basement bedroom while she was napping upstairs because she was pregnant, or nursing, or on bed rest...That was my first act of defiance, and now I wonder what my kids will remember as their first act of defiance against the tyrant MOM.
Poor little guy! Naps were crucial in this house. My first three had morning kindergarten and all came home and ate then napped until 3 everyday. Big nappers. My last son had afternoon kindergarten, so...
