Tomorrow is Nikolay's birthday and this evening he asked me how "my years are my riches" sounds in English. The best I could come up with is "One year older, one year wiser." Getting older each year has been hard on both of us, but I guess it is inevitable, and a lot better that the alternative. Sometimes, when I really think about it I am so glad to be alive, like when I think about how many people I know who wouldn't be here if it weren't for modern medicine, and how lucky we are to live in the developed world where everything is available to us. Aren't we spoiled? Like how much stuff we have and how much we wouldn't even miss it if it were gone. (some of it).
I didn't mean to start my blog out on such a serious note, but that is one of the things I am always trying to overcome, being too serious and not light-hearted enough, it really does stress me out, and my kids too. I need to learn how to laugh again. Especially after a steroid driven day like today. I can't wait for Ariel to be done with treatment and maybe life will be a little more normal.
Another thing I am working on is taking better pictures. Nikolay thinks I should read the manual for our super duper camera, but who has time for that or a photography class either. What I really like about Emily's blog is that she always posts photos.
I think I am just going to write as if the audience or readers or who ever already know who everyone is so that I don't have to always write "my oldest daughter" or "my sister-in-law". And if you don't know who is who, just keep reading and maybe you will figure it out.
So here is a picture of Dallin's feet tonight.. or maybe it is not as easy as I thought to put a picture in. OK, so it ended up at the top which doesn't make sense, but I will leave it for today. I hope you enjoyed my first blog entry.

YES!! I love it!! First of all, love Dallin's little chubby feet. So so precious. Second of all, love that your blogging! It's so fun! Third of all, wish Nickolay a very Happy Birthday from us! Hope you have a fun day! I think we'll plan to come visit again soon. Any longer than 2 weeks without seeing you and I start going through withdrawals I think! :)
Yay for blogging!
Heather -
I really like the first couple lines of this posting - maybe you could put them on your blog as some sort of overall header that ties in the name of the blog. I like the idea of the alternative of getting older isn't any better!!
